A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR
First off, thanks for coming here. Working with the written word has always been a big part of my life but it wasn't until I retired from teaching that I finally had the time to take it up seriously. Now that I'm writing for real, I plan on fleshing out the Hunter series. I hope to make the series a fast, fun ride and sincerely hope you decide to come on that ride with me. Please consider signing up for my email list down below so I can let you know when new work is available. If you're here by accident, please consider clicking on the God Hunters image below. It will take you directly to my first novel on Amazon and give you the opportunity to become part of the Hunter family. |

THE start of the hunter series
I started writing this over two years ago just after I retired. I'd watched a particularly good movie and wondered for the millionth time what it must be like to create something that evokes wonder in others. What a feeling, to give something like that to another human being! Then I thought, why can't that be me? Why can't I do that? I decided to give it a try and The God Hunters was born.
I have to say writing a book isn't easy. If there's any advice that stands out as THE ADVICE about writing, it's 'FINISH WHAT YOU START'. Looking back over my life I started numerous projects that at some point just faded out. That's not the way to do it. You want to be able to write 'The End' on the last page and mean it. Get the words down. Get the plot down in some semblance of order. Once that's done you have something you can work with. It's not THE END but the beginning of the THE END. Don't worry that it's not perfect. Write the story then go back and make it good.
I said writing is hard and it's true. After I completed THE GOD HUNTERS I found that I wasn't close to being done. The first draft is only that, a draft. The work to make it good is where the craft comes in. You fix the obvious and add the details that make it a story. I went back and edited TGH a number of times - going all the way through each time. For awhile I wondered if it was ever going to get better. In the end I think it did and I'm proud of it.
Ok, editing is done. What's next? So far my little project had been all me. That's a recipe for disaster because you need more eyes on your work. So I hired an editor. This began the editing process all anew. My editor found mistakes I swore he wrote in himself just so he could say he found something wrong. (Lol - sorry Marlowe). But of course he didn't. The mistakes were all mine and another valuable lesson. You need an editor. A good editor. That's money you need to spend. Period. And beta readers. Work on getting those. People who will read your work and find even more little mistakes for you to correct. Another period.
TGH was published December 24, 2019. It was a Christmas present to myself but I also hoped it might bring a little joy and wonder into the life of anyone reading it.

The god hunters - Story synopsis
Nicholas Benson is a university professor and plain, ordinary guy just out for a hike and a fun time. The alien Katel is a Hunter, a Tik, whose abilities allow her to travel through the multiverse. She’s hunting an escaped criminal who used to be a leading member of the ruling Council on Homeworld. The trouble is, she needs a body and Nick’s is the only one available. It’s a weak, human body however, so she changes it. Makes it strong. Now he has powers. He can do things he always dreamed of as a boy. The trouble is, so can his enemies, and there are a lot of them. And none of them appreciate being hunted. He’d like to walk away but can’t. The alien sharing his body has powers as well and she’s not willing to give up so easily. Whether he likes it or not, he’s a Hunter now with a murdering mastermind to find.
